SUMMER IS ON. The Melges 17 racing circuit just can't possibly get any hotter! Over the past six months, the M17 fleet has seen some incredible racing. Four major championships and four different major regatta winners — that's competitive Melges racing!

As we get ready to race the summer months, there are some awesome events to look forward to: 2006 Melges 17 Regatta at Crystal Lake Yacht Club, the W.M.Y.A. Regatta in Muskegon, Michigan, the 2006 National Championship in Lake Geneva and last, but certainly not least is the very first Fall Championship set to be hosted by the Catawba Yacht Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
IGGY AND ANDY LABANAUSKUS ARE THE 2006 MELGES 17 SPRING CHAMPIONS!

CONGRATULATIONS! Iggy and Andy Labanauskus overcame more than just the heavy competition of Kirk and Ian Donaldson, Bill and Angie Wiggins, Art Brereton and Harry Melges, III, Brian McMurray and Deb Campbell, they also had to overcome the rain. Saturday's races were canceled after the unexpected pouring rainy conditions prevailed, but Sunday was a completely different scene. With three top contending boats tied — Brereton, Donaldson and Wiggins, Labanauskus was a point back. Down to the wire in a brand new Melges 17, Labanauskus battled to pass all three and won the regatta.

Wiggins finished in second, Brereton was third and Donaldson settled for fourth. Many thanks to all the competitors that traveled from afar but only were able to race once day. The Lake Geneva Yacht Club was the perfect Spring Regatta host as great fun was had by all! For full race reports, stories and results, visit MELGES17.COM.
