WEST MICHIGAN YACHTING ASSOCIATION
(WMYA)
RECOGNIZES THE MELGES 17
In 2006, the West Michigan
Yachting Association (WMYA) will formally recognize the Melges
17 as a competing class at their 77th Annual WYMA Regatta
on August 2-5 in Muskegon, Michigan. This new fleet will add
just the right spark to an already exciting event.
The legend and history that surrounds this championship is
incredible. From early on Melges has been there standing the
test of time delivering the very best in performance scow
and sportboat building.
Like Melges, the very foundation of the WYMA is about encouraging,
promoting and supporting amateur yachting and sailboat racing
on the inland lakes. So as you plan your schedules for next
year, be sure to pencil this one in. There is a large group
of M17 sailors in Michigan - this regatta will be big.

M17 UPGRADES AND PRODUCT
ENHANCEMENTS
Melges performance ingenuity is back in action with the
announcement of the addition of lower stays to the Melges
17 rig. After many trials, testing and discussion, this
enhancement will be provided by Melges to all boats built
last year.
Coming soon to your doorstep is a Melges 17 retrofit kit.
Inside you will find the lower stays and turnbuckles. They
will be attached in the forward holes of the chainplates.
The uppers will go into the aft hole. This really improves
sail shape.
This modification is very easy to complete on your own,
however if preferred, bring your boat to Zenda and Melges
Performance Sailboats can install this upgrade for you.
